Learn from Tom

For over 50 years, from the Amazon to the Yukon, from Polynesia to South East Asia, throughout the United States and Europe, Tom mentored under the tutelage of indigenous healers. His greatest teacher came to be Guadalupe de la Cruz, a renowned Huichol mara’ akame (shaman), teacher, healer, singer, artist, and pilgrimage leader, whose life was devoted to maintaining the ways passed down to her by her ancestors entrusted Tom as a bridge builder. She called him a grandson and, after an 11 year apprenticeship that culminated in a ceremonial ritual into that of shamanic healer, Guadalupe assigned Tom the responsibility of helping to preserve the Huichol culture, practices, and traditions, to bring healing to people and the world. She told him he was to be a link between indigenous healing wisdom and what she called, “the people of the North” because “the sun was coming closer to the earth, nature is alive” and we need to “remember the ancient ways of walking with respect and gratitude in order to restore balance in the world.”

Tom takes on a limited number of mentorships each year to pass on the wisdom, and carry forth the medicine bundle, he was given by his elders. To inquire and apply, please:
